NORTH ROOM DISPLAYS
There are 3 new displays in the north museum for the 2010 season.
ARCHITECTURAL REMNANTS
Ever wonder about some of those adornments on our area’s historic homes? This display will answer your questions about things used as ornamentation and function, primarily on the outside of houses and other buildings.
FROM OUR ANCESTORS' DAYS
This display features a variety of household items from the late 1800s through the 1940s. Can you guess what each was used for?
WHERE RIVER STREET MEETS BARRINGTON AVENUE
How did the intersection and vicinity of River St. and Barrington Ave. in East Dundee change over time? Photos and history of businesses housed in the area buildings over the past years will interest anyone who has ever traveled through the area.
SOUTH ROOM EXHIBITS
Permanent displays in the south museum room include a history of Native Americans who inhabited the valley before the white man; the coming of the first settlers and items carried across the prairie; items manufactured at local businesses, the journey on the Underground Railroad; dolls and toys from years past and artifacts from the Civil War.
A small classroom shows visitors how differently a school teacher from yester year taught her students.

This beautifully restored picture once belonging to Julius Angelo and Mary Carpenter depicts life in the area during the late 1800s.
