NORTH ROOM
The “In Praise of Porches” is complete with an old-fashioned porch scene where onlookers can imagine what it was like for their parents or grandparents. The exhibit is anchored by a display of pictures showing a variety of ways that area families used and enjoyed the family porch.
New this year is “The Edwards Block” that features photos and information pertaining to this section of East Dundee. Learn some interesting facts about this historic business area.
“Folk Art” by Herta Klahn Miller, one of the township’s earlier residents. Mrs. Miller used everyday things she found around the house to make her creations including paper straws and sandpaper. The items for the exhibit are on loan from her daughter and historical society member, Myrtle Miller.
SOUTH ROOM
The South Room contains exhibits that are specific for Dundee Township. Permanent exhibits feature Native American artifacts, Alan Pinkerton, the Underground Railroad, General George McClure, Evangelist Billy Sunday, tools from the 19th century and more.
A landscape oil painting donated to our area by the Carpenters over 100 years ago has been renovated and is now displayed in the South Room for all visitors to enjoy.
